The aim of the Minster Building Society is to preserve Bonn’s cathedral.
The almost 1,000-year-old building has been repeatedly damaged, but after a detailed building analysis in September 2014 it is clear that the need for renovation is much greater than expected. The situation in the cathedral is even worrying. Public and church funds will not be sufficient for the necessary renovation measures.
In order to ensure the preservation of the cathedral, the residents of Bonn are nevertheless involved in the Bonn Minster Building Society. In order for this commitment to have a long-term and sustainable effect, it must be deployed in a coordinated and planned manner. Supporters must be brought together and the implementation of the projects have to be organised. Beyond that the association would like to encourage also other humans to the employment for the Bonn cathedral. For this, the initiative “My Bonn Minster” was launched in November 2014.
