Not far from the Rhine stands the bonn minster – the cradle of our city. From here the medieval city of Bonn developed. For almost 1000 years, the historical, cultural, spiritual and everyday aspects have been combined in and around our minster.
The Bonn cathedral and its art treasures impress people from near and far. It is a Christian landmark, cultural monument and European heritage. The building is impressively beautiful. It was not a coincidence that Kaiser Wilhelm I chose the cathedral as a model for the Gedächtniskirche in Berlin.
The cathedral has a far-reaching religious, ideological and economic significance for our city. It is a magnet for tourism and a haven of peace in the hustle and bustle of the city centre. It’s a piece of the identity of Bonn.
